Welcome
to the JH Choppers 2006 FXSTI EFI Chopper Project Page.
With the Full Mockup complete, we need to finish the frame and swing arm mods before sending them out for powder coating. Finish the rear fender and struts mods assembly, pressure test the gas tank and complete body work on fenders and gas tank.

| Complete
the Frame and Swing Arm:
After the full mockup was completely broken down, the belt
guard mounts are cut off the swing arm and the welds are sanded smoothed. The
frame is placed onto the welding table where each weld joint is completed and
then inspected. The welds that are visible are smoothed and sanded before we send
it out for powder coating.

Test and Seal the Tank:
All tanks should be pressure tested before painting, especially
this tank since there we so many modifications to it. We use 10 PSI of air and
water to look for pin holes. We didn't have any leaks, however the tank must be
cleaned and sealed. The tank inside was coated with oil to keep it from rusting,
the oil and metal partials from cutting and welding are removed with water, degreaser
and a some misc hardware. Acetone is used to dry the inside, then it is sealed
with Eastwood's "Gas
Tank Sealer" | ||||

Fender Mods/Prep: The
fender strut holes are welded up and the extra sheet metal is trimmed off the
bottom. A nut is welded to the under side of the fender for the seat mount bolt.
Then Evercoat glazing putty and metal glaze are used to fill in the gaps. Sanded
down to smooth finish with 100grit.

Mods/Prep: The
tank is prepared for paint by added metal glaze over the weld joints. Then sanded
smooth with 100grit. The 3 basic parts are now ready for primary and more sanding.
