Welcome to the JH Choppers 2006 FXSTI EFI Chopper Project Page.

Time to tear down the front end in preparation of the frame modifications. Normally this is a simple step, but the front axle was damaged.

Remove Front Axle: The axle safety nut had rubbed the axle and created a burr on the inner race. We could only pull the axle out about 0.250 before the burr hit the race. A long steel rod was welded onto the end of axle so it could be hammed out. You can see the damage to the axle and shavings.

Axle Repair: The axle was placed on the lathe and the race guides were repaired.

Remove the forks and Triple Trees: The forks are removed and set aside. The new 12 over fork tubes will be installed into the fork lowers. The triple tree and handle bars are removed as an assembly.
